By March 22nd the nesting box with video camera was installed.
Lacking better equipment I can only video tape 5 hours a day. I
start 5:30 am and finish filming at 10:30 am.. March 23rd one Blue Tit stayed overnight till 5:50 am. Once more a brief visit around 8:30am. The first pictures as a test are transferred to the web site. March 24th the Blue Tit again stayed overnight and flew out around 5:45am. After this there were at least two more visits working on the entrance and the bottom of the nesting box. Building the NestMarch25th it seems she stays here everynight. Today she was up already at 5:32 am. In the morning she carrried in pieces of moss constructing the bottom of the nest.March 26 th, today she slept till 5:50 am. Otherwise no changes. Is it because of the fog? March 27th. For the first time no filming during the night. I start filming now at 5:00am. There were two visits from the Blue Tit. March 28th - 31rst. Further construction of nest. Now seeing two birds probably a pair. But only one is actively building the nest. April 1rst to 2nd. Watched overnight stay. Actively building the nest. Moss is brought in busily and used to fill in nest. April 3rd. Now they start bringing in pieces of wool to work into the nest. April 6th thru 11th. It is extremely cold, at night below freezing, during the day snowfall. Overnight sleeping in the nest, during the day few visits working on the nest. She finished the entrance way according to her needs. Nest recording of April 10th. April 12th to 17th. Finally Spring has arrived. Outside pictures from April 13th. The temperature during the day is around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The Blue Tit is intensely working on the nest. On the inside she already made a deep indentation. The laying of eggs.April 18th and 19th. Again cooler weather. Further light work on the nest. I assume she may have already layed one egg. But during the day she is hiding the eggs under the moss.April 22nd. The bird layed at least 4 eggs. April 23rd one more egg layed. clutch from 23.04. April 24th another egg layed and a little bit of work done on the nest and entrance. April 28th She layed one egg everyday. There are now 10 eggs in the nest. Breeding TimeApril 30th She layed the 12 egg and is now roosting.May 5th. Altogether 13 eggs. Female is roosting and male is caring for her. Once in awhile female leaves nest to get nearby food. May 12th. The first little blue tits were slipped. May 13th. There are another 4 eggs in the nest box at least. The tit parents are caring for the squabs. The worms are often to long. May 14th. There have (almost) all squabs sipped today. I cant' see that exact. But i saw the female - she ate a part of eggshell. (video). The squabs but were yesterday or the day before yesterday slipped, they are obvious bigger than the Newcomer. May 15th. It's very cold and rainy since yesterday (Icemen). It's almost an egg to watch in the nest box. May 19th. The new tits have been mighty grown, have the little first feathers and they are always hungry. The mother tit is cleaning the nest box again and again and turning lusty her kids. I can't possibly count the kids accurate. But I think there are 9 young tits. May 20th. I'm sure (almost surely): I've seen 10 young tits today. May 21th. Foto - recorded in the morning. 3 young tits are apathetic lying in the nest box. Will they are survive? I was able to see one egg. May 23th. The apathetic lying tits are living yet now. But they are less than the first new born. Their eyes are opened yet and they are very big. May 24th. It was hot today, but 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Young tits were outside the nest-hollow and were sitting best against the nest box wall. Now I was able count the kids: there are 11 little tits! May 25th. Two new pictures: Early in the morning. It's hot today.... May 16th. The little tits have grown extremely. The first new born like their parents. They are looking to the nest-exit often. May 30th. It's so hot every day. The old tits are bringing food twice a minute. The first new born tits are looking mature. They are beating its wings and looking to the exit. June 1st. Over 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) again. First tits are sitting at the hole inside and looking .They are getting food there. But there are all 11 tits in the nest box. June 2nd. Now finally: all young tits have flown out within two hours . The last pictures: All 11 tits inside the nest box. A curious look outside and mama tit are bringing food. June 6th.
